Dear Friends,

I’m sipping coffee this morning from my Mom’s favorite mug. My dear, sweet, beautiful Mother passed away peacefully on September 17th.
Of the 15 days she spent in the hospital, I was fortunate to be with her 14 of those days, with many overnights. It was an emotional time, for sure, but with 91 years under her belt, she had a good run.

For a long time now, she and I have spoken almost daily on the phone, calling her from whatever part of the country I was traveling in. Mom was proud of all of her children and was certainly my biggest supporter, telling anyone she befriended (including doctors, nurses and physical therapists) about her son the musician. She would even show them my CDs and book, often making a sale along the way. I sure do miss her. Here’s her obituary for those interested:  http://obit.millercarlin.com/archives/2489/

But life marches on and I have several outstanding theater shows coming up in Minnesota (Plymouth, Lakeville and St. Cloud). I’m also anxious to get back to Illinois in a couple of weeks.  Check the tour schedule below. What I love to do is sing and I cannot wait to get back at it. Mom gets to be at all the concerts, now.

This past week...

So last week we had the funeral with an all-star cast of Minnesota musicians. Many said it was the best "Celebration of Life" service they had ever been to and wanted to book us for their own service. I told them to check the tour schedule to make sure we are available. A little humor to lighten the load....

Two days later I started my fall “Beads on One String” concerts with over 1,000 elementary kids in Monticello, Minnesota. What a day that was! There is nothing like having that many beautiful kids smiling at you to take your mind off your troubles.

The next day I was honored by the senior class of Zimmerman High School (also in Minnesota). They did the Beads on One String curriculum when they were in fourth grade and have continued to sing the song and use the lessons all these years later. They contacted me, asking if I would come to their senior homecoming and talk to their class. Needless to say, we closed out with everyone singing a raucous version of the song. It was truly awesome. There are photos up on my Facebook page and hopefully videos coming soon.

Thank you everyone, for your love and support.

Peace
