Hello Friends -

Happy Spring!  I'm back in Minnesota after some lengthy road tripping this winter.  The highlight may have been leaving  here at -28F and arriving in Austin Texas at +85F.  It was quite a shock waking up to the sound of a lawn mower under my motel room window.  "Not nearly as fun as being woken up by snow blowers and plow trucks", I thought.  Winter must be very boring in Texas.

I wouldn't normally recommend watching TV (unless I'm on it, of course), but if you're so inclined and able, on Monday March 17th tune in to NBC's "The Voice" and watch my friend Kat Perkins from Minnesota. She's an outstanding vocalist and human being who will do very well in the competition.  It's really fun watching talented people reaching their dreams.  Kat also my nephew Eric's girlfriend.  Yeah!

It's been a rough week around here. My Mom had a run in with a quick closing elevator door that knocked her down, resulting in a broken leg.  At 90 years old, everything's a big deal. She pulled through the surgery fine, with a titanium rod and six screws now holding her leg together. Yikes!

My Mom is a pretty awesome lady. Many of you have met her at my concerts or have gotten to know her through my FACEBOOK photos.  If you're so inclined, a silent prayer on her behalf would be much appreciated.

Finally, before I close this newsletter, a little humor in the form of a public service announcement: All you young women considering a tattoo, think about the future while you are deciding where to place that work of art.  At the local swimming hole in Austin (Barton Springs), I passed a twenty something gal sporting a tattoo of a banjo that somehow incorporated her navel.  I'm sure it was amazing... until she became pregnant.  Very pregnant.  Now the banjo looked more like a basketball with wires.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm guessing this wasn't the image she had in mind, unless she's a banjo playing basketball player?  Then it's super cool!

Do you have any funny tattoo stories?  Please share with me.  I feel a song coming on...

Have a great weekend.

Peace,
